Welcome to the Consent for Approach for Research (C4AR) Database - the home for kidney patients interested in research, led by patients, for patients.
If you are living with kidney disease and are under the care of a hospital kidney team, we invite you to join our research community. C4AR is currently open to people aged 16 years and over but this is just the beginning! We are actively developing the next phase of the programme and look forward to welcoming children, young people and their families soon.
Created by the UK Kidney Association Patient Council, the C4AR Database was developed to ensure that everyone living with kidney disease has a voice, can share their experiences and is given the opportunity to hear about research studies that may be relevant to them. By bringing patients and researchers together, we can help ensure that future research focuses on what matters most to people. As the first initiative of its kind for kidney patients across the UK, every person who joins strengthens our community and helps shape the future of kidney research.

If you decide to join, your personal information will be kept secure and will never be shared with researchers without your permission. Joining the database does not mean you are agreeing to take part in research studies - it simply means you are happy to hear about opportunities and decide for yourself whether you would like to participate.
We'll also invite you to complete a short wellbeing questionnaire (taking around 5-7 minutes) when you join and every six months afterwards. This is entirely optional, but by completing it you'll be helping researchers understand how kidney disease affects people's lives and improve future care and research.
