Research Programme
The C4AR research programme is designed to help us better understand what it is really like to live with kidney disease. By combining information from short questionnaires with existing clinical data, we can learn more about the symptoms, challenges and experiences that matter most to patients.
When you join C4AR, you'll be asked to complete a short registration questionnaire so we can get to know a little about you and your kidney condition.
Your Wellbeing Questionnaire
You'll be invited to complete a short wellbeing questionnaire called PROMIS-29+2. It takes around 5–7 minutes to complete and asks about aspects of your health and wellbeing that are important to people living with kidney disease, including fatigue, pain, sleep, physical function, emotional wellbeing, social activities and cognition.
We'll invite you to complete the questionnaire every six months so we can understand how people's health and wellbeing change over time. You'll be able to view and download your own questionnaire responses, helping you track changes in your health and wellbeing over time and support conversations with your healthcare team.
By combining your questionnaire responses with existing clinical information held by the UK Kidney Association, researchers can better understand how symptoms and quality of life relate to kidney disease and treatment.
Every questionnaire you complete helps us build a better understanding of kidney disease and ensures that future research focuses on what matters most to patients.
Additional Research Opportunities
From time to time, you may also be invited to take part in other optional questionnaires on topics that are important to people living with kidney disease, such as treatments, healthcare experiences and quality of life. As the database grows there will also be additional research opportunities we will tell you about. Participation is always your choice, and you can decide what you do and don’t want to do.
